Acceptable Cleaning and Disinfecting Chemicals for Clever Devices & Digital Recorders Equipment
As a result of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic impacting our region, we would like to make you aware of acceptable cleaning and disinfecting chemicals that can be used on various onboard hardware and the suggested appropriate manner in which this equipment should be disinfected:
ACCEPTABLE DISINFECTING CHEMICALS
- Mild soap/detergent and water may be used for cleaning only
- For disinfection purposes, use only alcohol-based agents and follow the manufacturer recommendations for appropriate contact time
- Acid-based agents or any solution that contains ammonia or acetone are not acceptable as they can damage housing plastics and touchscreens
- We recommend you consult the EPA for information on specific disinfecting agents recommended for use against SARS-COV-2 (Coronavirus COVID-19)
SUGGESTED DISINFECTING PROCESS
- Alcohol-based disinfectants should be applied to a soft cloth first and wiped on the product surface
- Microfiber cloths are recommended
- Liquids should not be sprayed, and liquid should not be allowed to pool in the corners of any device
- All agents should be wiped off as soon as possible following EPA contact time recommendations
- Scrubbing with force is not recommended as it can induce scratching or hazing
